Here’s what you can do to make your negotiations more successful:
- Focus on the big picture. In 10, 20 or 30 years, how much are you going to care that the seller didn’t leave the appliances in the home?
- Be selective in what you ask for, and be willing to make fair trade-offs.
- Think about win-win instead of win-lose. You don’t have to have a winner and loser because buying a home isn’t a competition. Instead, it’s a transaction in which both parties have the ability to come out on top.
